It’s all about cucumbers here on a rooftop in East Harlem! Innovation’s Sustainable Careers program has students building, planting, and cultivating a wide variety of edible produce on our rooftop garden - keeping East Harlem fresh, healthy & GREEN!
Steve Ritz & the Innovation Sustainable Careers program have the roof covered in fresh edible produce! Last Wednesday students & staff picked corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and eggplant grown by our own student-farmers.
Innovation’s Sustainable Careers program participant Michael Delvalle proudly shows off our rooftop bounty for July! Michael, along with Associate Director of Sustainable Careers Stephen Ritz & other Innovation students, have been working for months cultivating a beautiful rooftop garden that may soon be the largest public youth-led independent year-round food producing entity on the Island of Manhattan! Whew!
Innovation THINK TANK is an after school program focusing on social justice, activism, and relevant political issues effecting teenagers in Harlem & beyond.
